Indeed she could, and she did. To remove a watermark in Word:
- On the toolbar, click Format.
- Click Background, and then Printed Watermark.
- Select the No Watermark checkbox.
Voila. Happy editing -

“I’ve worked with the staff at Dragonfly for years, and I trust their editing completely. We’ve used them on federal proposals, commercial proposals, IT documentation, marketing collateral … you name it. They are especially helpful on large projects, when we need a team of editors to get a lot done in a short timeframe. They also have great writers who can handle everything from white papers to case studies. Dragonfly is our editorial dream team!".
I’m running Word 2003. What you describe above is exactly what it says to do in the “help” files. And unfortunatly, it is not working in my document. If you find more information on this that might work for me, please let me know. Thanks!
UPDATE: To remove unruly watermarks - even though they do not appear to be in the header or footer of the document - select ‘view header/footer’. Then you will be able to select the watermark as a picture and simply delete it.
